Long post...

It has been over a month since our last post...I guess a lot has happened.
First of all Koyo is now climbing stairs(as of February). When Chisa was at Andrea's house we looked and there he was climbing the stairs. Good thing we noticed him before he fell. You forget how fast they can learn to do things. One minute they are doing something and then the next they are doing something new. Koyo is putting his new climbing skills into use anywhere and everywhere we go. At home he was climbing up onto his toys to get onto the coffee table. There is no way we can baby proof everything...we just have to keep an eye on him every second.

It is fun being with Koyo. He is now 29inches and about 19lbs. He talks, laughs, and is now mimicking sounds and actions. He just started to raise his hands when we call his name in Japanese. He also is able to say his byes and gives me kisses on my lips (it rather looks like he is going to eat my lips). Everyday I am excited to see what new things he will do next.

Since I am behind on some post I decided to go back all the way to Halloween to post some pics and some updates with some funny stories.

HALLOWEEN!!!
Koyo got to go to his first trick or Treating (or Trunk or Treating) at our church. He was a cute little Snoopy (costume given to us by Auntie Reiko and Uncle Shion) and Gordon was a fish... unfortunately we didn't get any pictures of this...
We got other cute costumes from Auntie Shannen, Uncle Michael, and the kids. We got to dress him up all throughout the week of Halloween.

November
Thanksgiving was fun. We got to spend it with the Israelsens, the Traceys and some other fun families. We ate sooo much good food. The break was kind of ruined though because Gordon had a test right after that break on Monday. What are the professors thinking....

So November was kind of a month where we were really getting ready for a break and things were getting a little busy with the Christmas season coming. There was several incidents where Gordon had to ask me if I was really okay and awake. At one of the Sunday get together with the Traceys and Israelsons we went there like we had always... and on the way out Gordon was cracking up at the door and called me to come see. Well lets just say that I some how wore two totally different shoes, one turquoise and one tan, without having a clue that I did.
Couple of days after that incident I had gotten home from the Dollar Tree and realized in the car that I couldn't find one side of my shoes. So I hopped inside the house and told Gordon. He went back to Dollar Tree and found my shoe laying in the snow of the parking lot.
Don't ask me how or why... I must have been really tired that week...
it definitely was not one of my smartest moments.

December

We got a good break from Med School and headed to Myrtle Beach to see my sister Sayuri and her family and Atlanta to visit Grandmamma, Granddaddy and the family. Before we headed out, there was a bad snow storm and we ended up taking 6hrs just to get to Beckley (which usually only takes 3hrs). We ended up stuck in WV for another night at a terrible motel since there was nothing else left in the area. How terrible was it... well there was no dead bolt lock on the door, shower that flooded the toilet (which made the room smell like urine), Gordon found a blond hair in the towel (which he found it stuck on his face after shower), and top it off it was freezing cold.
We made it to Myrtle Beach safely the next day to our nice two bedroom condo with the balcony view of the beach. The hotel had an inside pool with a lazy pool and kiddie pool that Koyo got to experience for the first time. Koyo enjoyed playing with his cousins. We also got to go to the Dixie Stampede and shop at the Outlets.
Atlanta was great. We got to spend a lot of one on one time with Grandmamma and Granddaddy. We also got to see Nana, she flew out from SLC on the 27th to be with us. We got to also spend time with many of Gordons aunts, uncles, and cousins. Christmas get together was great at Marshall and Becky's house.
Koyo got into his present before christmas.

Kenji and Hideki were so good to Koyo

January
So in January Chisa and Koyo headed to UT for a little bit for a funeral for Patty Jones. She was like grandmother/mother to Chisa's family. The funeral service was beautiful and the Jones's did a wonderful job. Patty had fought cancer for several years with reruns of Chemotherapy and I'm sure she is in a better place now. We will all miss her dearly and can't wait to see her again.
While in UT Chisa and Koyo enjoyed visiting with the family. It was like a small Oikawa reunion with all of the Oikawa sisters there.
